Local Volunteer Programme

Thank you for displaying a genuine interest in your community. As a non-profit organization with limited resources, we rely heavily on the support we receive from committed individuals like you.

A volunteer is someone who offers an organisation his or her services of his or her own free will. A volunteer is not paid but is nevertheless expected to follow the guidelines laid down by the organisation and upheld by its management.

This webpage outlines the many opportunities made available to volunteers at Princess Alice Adoption Home.  It also sets forth our high standard of expectations. For us, continuity and consistency are a priority. Continuity builds relationships and consistency maintains them. We believe it is important for our volunteers to be aware of the commitment and responsibility required for the positive development of each our children, as well as the success of the organisation as a whole.

The Home needs many types of volunteers. We truly believe that every volunteer can make a marked difference in the lives of the children we serve. From having one-on-one interaction with our babies, to making a sustainable contribution by training our staff in a specific area of expertise, the time you spend with us is greatly appreciated.

If you are interested in becoming a volunteer at the Home, you will be asked to:

• Download and Complete the application form which you can find at the bottom of the page,
• Attach a copy of your identity document or passport,
• Attach a copy of your driver’s licence,
• Attach two passport-sized photos (for the purpose of creating a PAAH ID card without which you will not be allowed to enter the premises),
• Attach a police clearance, the receipt for a police clearance or a statement explaining lack of funds necessary for a police clearance, and
• Set up an interview with the Home’s manager, Julie Vivier.

The number of volunteers we are able to accept is now limited. Submitting all required documentation in good time increases your chances of being approved as a volunteer.

In order for us to make your time spent with us as rewarding as possible, please let us know what skills or expertise you are able to offer and what type of commitment you are willing to make. Open communication between the volunteer base and the Home’s management will ensure maximum mutual benefit.
